First advanced Siemens-focused industrial automation training center in East and Central Africa
NITA-approved certification aligned to national workforce standards
Built in collaboration with Siemens and supported by academic integration with DeKUT
Designed to reduce reliance on overseas technical intervention
Strategic evolution of Synkron from system integrator to institutional knowledge partner
Nairobi, 5 March 2026 – Synkron Africa has officially launched East and Central Africa’s first NITA-approved advanced industrial automation training center, marking a strategic milestone in the company’s evolution from industrial system integrator to institutional knowledge partner.
The center was unveiled at an industry leaders’ launch event held at Capital Club East Africa in Nairobi, bringing together stakeholders from manufacturing, energy, utilities, and academia.
Since 2010, Synkron has delivered more than 1,000 automation projects across 46 African countries, supporting institutions including KenGen, KPLC, Coca-Cola and Heineken. Over the years, the company has installed, maintained, and restored complex automation systems across critical infrastructure environments.
The launch of the Synkron Training Center represents a full-circle moment, transitioning from implementing and repairing advanced systems to embedding the expertise required to sustain them locally.
Addressing a Structural Skills Gap
As automation systems across East and Central Africa become more interconnected and data-driven, the demand for advanced technical competence continues to grow. Historically, critical automation failures have often required reliance on overseas specialists, resulting in delays, increased costs, and operational risk.
The Synkron Training Center was established to reduce that dependency by formalizing structured, hands-on knowledge transfer within the region.
Siemens as the Technical Foundation
The center specializes in Siemens automation and drive systems, positioning Siemens technology as the technical backbone of the program. Given the widespread deployment of Siemens systems across manufacturing and energy sectors, aligning training with global Siemens standards ensures practical relevance and operational continuity.
Engineers enrolled in the program receive structured exposure to:
System configuration and integration
Control logic management
Diagnostics and troubleshooting
Drive systems optimization
Preventive maintenance methodologies
This applied approach strengthens in-house capability and supports long-term system reliability.
National Accreditation and Institutional Alignment
The Synkron Training Center operates under accreditation from the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), ensuring that its certification pathways align with nationally recognized workforce development standards.
This approval formalizes the transition from informal technical exposure to verified industrial competence, strengthening credibility for both employers and engineering professionals.
The initiative is further supported through collaboration with Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT), reinforcing alignment between academic engineering education and real-world industrial system requirements.
Strengthening Regional Industrial Resilience
As Kenya advances its Vision 2030 manufacturing objectives and automation adoption deepens across East and Central Africa, building local technical depth has become essential to sustaining industrial growth.
By institutionalizing advanced automation training within the region, Synkron is contributing to a more resilient industrial ecosystem, one that is better equipped to manage complex systems independently and reduce reliance on external intervention.
The launch signals a strategic expansion of Synkron’s mandate: from restoring industrial performance to embedding the competence required to sustain it.
